We're building infrastructure to support AI-powered lesson generation at scale. Our current stack is Node.js (Express + Fastify), PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS. We're starting to hit scale limits on our content delivery pipeline and need someone who's been through this before. You'll work on the data pipeline that ingests curriculum standards from 30+ states, maps them to teacher lesson plans, and feeds our AI generation service. Performance and reliability are first-class concerns — teachers plan lessons the night before and can't have the service be flaky. We have a strong devops culture: you'll own your services in production, write runbooks, and be on a light on-call rotation (roughly 1 week per quarter).
- 4+ years backend experience - Deep PostgreSQL knowledge — query tuning, indexing, migrations at scale - Node.js (TypeScript), REST API design - Experience with async job queues (Bull, BullMQ, or similar) - Comfortable debugging prod incidents — not just writing happy-path code - AWS experience (Lambda, SQS, RDS) a plus
